The Geometry of Natural Time in Real Time
The Moon is at 4°50′ Pisces, Waning Gibbous. The Sun is at 8°41′ Leo. Kept in sync with realtime to the exact second.
The Instrument
Positions are computed in your browser to the arcminute, every second, using astronomy-engine 2.1.19 — verified against Swiss Ephemeris 2.10.03 to within 0.069 arcminutes across Sun and Moon. Tropical zodiac, geocentric ecliptic of date.
- Lunar phase
- The Moon’s illuminated shape as seen from Earth, set by the angle between Moon and Sun. One full cycle — new to full and back — takes about 29.5 days, the synodic month.
- Void-of-course Moon
- The period after the Moon’s final Ptolemaic aspect to a traditional planet and before it enters the next zodiac sign. This clock computes the current status and the exact end time, live.
- Moon sign
- The zodiac sign the Moon currently occupies — shown here by tropical ecliptic longitude, with degree and arcminute, updating in real time as the Moon moves about 13° per day.
